Chairperson's message

The Young Entrepreneurs Development Council (YDC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 by a group of professionals and business people who believe in the importance and the need to constantly improve entrepreneurship in our community. Our aim is to be the premier advocate and promoter of Entrepreneurial Spirit (ES) through related leadership training for young people in Hong Kong.

ES has been increasingly recognized globally as an essential quality for citizens of today. Encompassing core values such as being Enterprising, Visionary, Creative, Industrious, Resourceful, Energetic, Persevering and Committed, we believe that individuals possessing ES are capable of implementing their visions or shouldering their duties in whatever roles they may occupy.

ES can be cultivated, and this is best achieved while individuals are still young. Accordingly, YDC has strived to stimulate and develop a renewed interest throughout Hong Kong in promoting and cultivating ES in high school and university students, as well as young people in various businesses. Training programs and activities that we organize include the Entrepreneurs' Challenge (E-Challenge) and the Entrepreneurial Workshop (EWS) in universities, and the School-Company-Parent Program (SCP) which involve participation of both students and business employees. We hope that in the near future we will be able to adapt our programs suitably for cultivating ES even amongst children of a younger age, based on the success we have made.

We are grateful that our programs have received recognition and ongoing, enthusiastic support from many sectors of the community, in particularly the Hong Kong Jockey Club who supported our SCP program since 2007; this is as vital as our concerted efforts to nurture entrepreneurial spirit throughout our community, making it more dynamic, capable, creative, competitive and relevant.

We welcome and look forward to greater participation and support from you!

Chairperson, YDC
